Iranian President Calls for Enhanced Economic Ties with Algeria

Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi has advocated for strengthening economic and trade relations between Iran and Algeria during a meeting with high-ranking delegations in Algiers.

Raeisi emphasized the existing good political relations and shared cultural and religious commonalities between Iran and Algeria. He highlighted Iran's economic progress and its capacity to produce high-quality industrial, agricultural, and knowledge-based products.

Expressing optimism about his visit to Algeria, Raeisi hoped for a significant advancement in bilateral trade and economic cooperation. He praised Algeria's role in combating hegemony and colonialism, noting its positive regional policy promoting peace and security.

Raeisi stressed common views between Tehran and Algiers on various regional issues, particularly in fighting terrorism, emphasizing that strengthening ties would bolster regional and international relations.

The Iranian president proposed the formation of a joint financial fund to support knowledge-based activities and offered Iran's readiness to share experience in science, technology, energy, and petrochemicals with Algeria.

Raeisi's remarks echoed his earlier statement at the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) summit, where he expressed Iran's readiness to serve as an energy hub and a secure conduit for gas distribution worldwide.

In response, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune affirmed the mutual agreement to enhance trade, economic, and political relations, aiming to increase trade and financial exchanges. Tebboune commended Iran's progress despite extensive sanctions, underscoring Algiers' interest in fostering cooperation with Tehran.
