The Palestinian government accused Israel of perpetuating an apartheid regime in the occupied territories through a system that includes colonization and the expulsion of the Arab population.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned in a statement that Israel, not only maintains Palestinian occupied lands, but also aims to seize more areas from the West Bank, and stressed Israel “continues to deepen the apartheid regime in occupied Palestine, depriving Palestinians of their lands and gradually expanding the jurisdiction of Israeli law on to the settlements.
The Foreign Ministry warned that the situation will worsen further after the recent electoral triumph of the right-wing bloc led by Benjamin Netanyahu, who once led Israel during 15 years.
Considered a “hawk”, Netanyahu has as his allies several openly racist and anti-Arab lawmakers such as Itamar Ben Gvir.
The Palestinian ministry held Tel Aviv responsible for the ongoing violations and crimes, as well as for preventing any resumption of dialogues to seek a negotiated solution to the conflict.
