US-Israel war on Iran

Oil Just Hit $111 a Barrel – Trump’s Iran Threats Are Making You Poorer

Here’s how the math works: every time President Trump threatens Iran on Truth Social, your gas bill goes up. And right now, the clock isn’t just ticking for Tehran – it’s ticking down to zero on American household budgets already stretched to the breaking point.

Trump posted Sunday that “For Iran, the Clock is Ticking, and they better get moving, FAST, or there won’t be anything left of them.” Within hours, oil prices spiked. Brent crude jumped nearly 2% to 111.42abarrel∗∗.WestTexasIntermediatehit∗∗111.42abarrel∗∗.WestTexasIntermediatehit∗∗107.98 – the highest level this month.

That’s not a coincidence. That’s a predictable market response to escalating war rhetoric. And it’s working-class Americans who pay the price at the pump.

The International Energy Agency just warned that global oil inventories are depleting at a record pace because the Strait of Hormuz – through which nearly one-fifth of the world’s oil once flowed – remains largely closed. Swiss bank UBS projects inventories will near all-time lows of 7.6 billion barrels by the end of May. That means prices aren’t coming down anytime soon.

But here’s what the financial headlines won’t tell you. While you’re paying more for gas, defense contractors are cashing in. According to the Costs of War Project at Brown University, post-9/11 wars have cost American taxpayers over $8 trillion – with a massive chunk flowing directly to Lockheed Martin, RTX, and Boeing. Every new “clock is ticking” warning sends their share prices higher.

Meanwhile, a fragile ceasefire has been in place since April. Pakistan brokered it. But Trump’s administration continues to blockade Iranian ports, and Tehran keeps the Strait of Hormuz mostly closed. Neither side is blinking. And American families are trapped in the middle.

The real cost of war spending isn’t just the missiles or the naval deployments. It’s the $4 gallon of gas. It’s the grocery bill that keeps climbing. It’s the fact that 70% of Americans now say their incomes aren’t keeping up with inflation – according to the latest CBS News/YouGov poll.

Trump says “TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE.” For whose essence? Not for the military families bracing for another deployment. Not for the veterans watching their benefits shrink while the Pentagon budget grows. And certainly not for the working-class voter who just wants to afford a full tank of gas.

The UBS report says “rapidly shrinking buffers” could herald “future price spikes ahead.” That’s banker-speak for: you’re about to pay even more.

Every threat, every Truth Social post, every Situation Room meeting is a gift to the military industrial complex. But it’s a tax on you.
