After two decades marked by occupation and a prolonged hiatus, a significant milestone has been reached in the southern region of Afghanistan's Uruzgan province. The commencement of construction activities for 15 health centers signifies a crucial step towards revitalizing and enhancing healthcare infrastructure in this historically significant area.
Afghan authorities have started the construction of 15 health centers in south Afghanistan's Uruzgan province, Mohammadullah Rouhani, the head of the provincial public health department, said on Friday.
Costing 6 million U.S. dollars, the construction project will provide health services to local people who have no access to them, the official said.
Welcoming the step as vital for reviving the local services, local residents have called for the establishment of different construction projects for the well-being of the people of the region, he added.
As part of efforts to rebuild war-torn Afghanistan, the Afghan caretaker government, besides launching development projects, has also called upon domestic and international companies to invest and create job opportunities for poverty-stricken Afghans.
