US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan has reiterated Washington's steadfast support for Israel's ongoing military campaign in the Gaza Strip. Sullivan, following discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Minister of Military Affairs Yoav Gallant, emphasized President Joe Biden's commitment to backing Israel in its conflict with the Palestinian group Hamas.
Gallant informed Sullivan that the Israeli bombardment of Gaza is expected to extend "more than several months" as they aim to prevail over Hamas. Sullivan acknowledged this timeline, stating, "There's no contradiction between saying the fighting is going to take months and also saying that the different phases will take place at different times over those months, including the transition from high-intensity operations to more targeted operations." The affirmation underscores the enduring alliance between the United States and Israel amid the prolonged conflict in the region.
