Iran Issues Warning to UN Security Council Over Israel's Aggressive Regional Actions

In a strongly worded statement on Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kan'ani raised concerns about Israel's alleged attempts to escalate conflict across the Middle East. Kan'ani emphasized the immediate threat to global peace and security posed by Israel's ongoing actions, including what he described as war crimes against Palestinians, violations of Lebanon and Syria's sovereignty, and overt efforts to engage in organized terrorism.

Pointing to the recent assassination of Hezbollah's senior commander, Wissam Hassan al-Tawil, in an Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon, Kan'ani squarely blamed the "criminal Zionist regime" and its supporters for the repercussions of such "terrorist and adventurous measures." He suggested that Israel's resort to desperate acts exposed its military weakness and highlighted the setbacks it faced in recent conflicts, including the three-month Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.

Kan'ani dismissed Israel's attempts as futile, asserting that such "evil acts" could not compensate for the regime's perceived defeat in Operation Al-Aqsa Storm. Despite Israel's ground invasion of Gaza since early October, Kan'ani claimed the regime had achieved no objectives, resulting in a high toll of casualties.

The Iranian diplomat commended Lebanon for supporting the Palestinian cause and expressed Iran's ongoing backing for Lebanon's unity, stability, and security. He reiterated Lebanon's legitimate right to counteract any acts of aggression by Israel.

With tensions escalating in southern Lebanon, where Hezbollah and Israeli forces engage in daily border exchanges, Kan'ani warned of the consequences of further escalation in the region. The statement underscored Iran's commitment to alerting the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to what it perceives as Israel's aggressive and destabilizing actions across the Middle East.
