Jordan Accuses Israel of Deliberately Targeting Field Hospital in Gaza, Israel Denies Claims

In a recent incident on Wednesday, the Jordanian military has accused Israeli forces of intentionally targeting its newest field hospital in Gaza. The military claims that Israeli forces blocked the entrance to the complex with a tank and fired at the hospital and bunkers where staff sought shelter.

Israel, however, denies the allegations, asserting that it was engaged in a gunfight with Hamas fighters in the vicinity of the field hospital. The Jordanian armed forces released a statement on Friday, refuting Israel's explanation, stating that the action was not a result of a clash with resistance factions. They strongly asserted that the deliberate targeting of the Jordanian Field Hospital is consistent with Israel's approach of targeting hospitals in Gaza.

This marks the fourth time that Jordan alleges its field hospitals in Gaza have been deliberately targeted since the conflict began in October. Jordan, having signed a peace agreement with Israel in 1994, had established its first field hospital in Gaza over a decade ago. In November, a second hospital was set up in Khan Younis after the Gaza City facility was damaged in what Jordan claims was an Israeli airstrike, resulting in injuries to seven medics.

The Jordanian military contends that Israeli forces were aware of the hospital's location and the presence of staff sheltering in an adjacent concrete building. Video footage released by Jordan's armed forces shows bullet holes in the concrete walls, shattered windows, and bloodstains on a bed in the building. They reported that one injured medic was evacuated by air for treatment, and a patient at the hospital sustained shrapnel injuries. Despite Jordan's claim of substantial damage to the hospital, Israel denies these allegations.
