IRGC Chief Warns of Firm Response to US Rising Tensions in West Asia

Major General Hossein Salami, the chief commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), issued a stern warning on Wednesday, asserting that Iran would not hesitate to retaliate against any threats amid escalating tensions in West Asia, exacerbated by the United States' support for Israel's actions in Gaza.

Speaking at the final session of the national congress commemorating 24,000 martyrs of Tehran Province, Salami addressed recent remarks by US officials, cautioning that Iran would not leave any threat unanswered. While emphasizing Iran's preference for peace, Salami made it clear that the country was prepared to defend itself if necessary.

The warning mirrored a statement from Iran's permanent mission to the United Nations, which firmly stated that any aggression against Iran and its people would be met with a resolute response.

Tensions have soared in the region, particularly due to the US's backing of Israel during the Gaza conflict, which has resulted in significant Palestinian casualties. The situation was further exacerbated by a recent drone strike on a military outpost in Jordan, attributed to "radical Iran-backed militant groups" by US President Joe Biden.

Iran, however, distanced itself from the attack, asserting that it was unrelated to its interests and instead linked to conflicts between resistance groups and US forces in the region.

Salami also expressed solidarity with Palestine, affirming their path to victory against Zionists. As tensions continue to simmer, Iran's warning serves as a reminder of its resolve to defend its sovereignty and interests in the face of escalating regional dynamics.
