Iran's Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, engaged in talks with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, in Jeddah, aimed at fortifying diplomatic and economic relations between the two nations. This meeting preceded an urgent gathering of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), addressing the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestinians in Gaza.
Expressing contentment with the current level of collaboration, Amir-Abdollahian highlighted Iran's eagerness to deepen ties with Saudi Arabia by focusing on shared objectives, particularly in economic and trade spheres.
Acknowledging Saudi Arabia's acceptance of Iran's proposal for the emergency Gaza meeting, Amir-Abdollahian stressed the importance of unified OIC action to support Palestinians and halt Israeli aggression.
In response, the Saudi Foreign Minister emphasized the grave humanitarian situation in Gaza and emphasized the necessity for joint efforts by Islamic nations to address the crisis. He also expressed satisfaction with the progress in Tehran-Riyadh relations and affirmed Saudi Arabia's commitment to further enhance bilateral cooperation.
Both ministers underscored the importance of collaborative endeavors to achieve common goals, including resolving the Gaza crisis.
Furthermore, Amir-Abdollahian held discussions with OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha to address the latest developments in Gaza. He emphasized the significance of the Palestine issue to the Islamic world and advocated for stronger OIC action to end Israeli violations in Gaza, stressing the urgency of sending a resolute message to Israel and its allies.
