A Palestinian woman, Jamila Al-Hisi, has shared harrowing details following an Israeli military incursion into al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City last week. Al-Hisi alleges that Israeli soldiers are committing egregious acts, including rape and extrajudicial killings, against Palestinian women trapped in the besieged facility.
Al-Hisi, who managed to escape the medical complex, recounted disturbing accounts of women enduring rape, starvation, torture, and summary executions at the hands of Israeli forces. She criticized the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for its perceived inaction amidst the crisis.
According to Al-Hisi, Israeli troops forcibly evacuated 65 families from the vicinity of al-Shifa Medical Complex, setting fire to buildings where civilians sought refuge. She lamented the dire conditions faced by displaced individuals, including a lack of food and clean water for six days.
Urging the Red Cross to intervene, Al-Hisi highlighted the plight of children and the sick, who are being forced to consume contaminated water and spoiled food. Palestinians in the area remain trapped amid ongoing Israeli shelling.
The Israeli military's assault on al-Shifa hospital, now in its seventh day, continues despite international condemnation. Israeli forces claim they are targeting Hamas operatives allegedly using the hospital for terrorist activities. However, reports suggest that civilians seeking shelter within the hospital have become collateral damage.
Allegations of heinous acts perpetrated by Israeli soldiers, including executions and sexual violence against pregnant women, have surfaced. These reports underscore the gravity of the situation and the urgent need for international intervention to halt Israel's aggression in Gaza.
Since the onset of the conflict in October 2023, Israel's actions have resulted in the deaths of over 32,000 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, with tens of thousands more injured. The blockade imposed by Israel has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, depriving residents of essential resources such as fuel, electricity, food, and water.
