Iranian President Calls for Muslim Nations to Sever Ties with Israel

Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi has urged Muslim-majority countries to take strong action against Israel, advocating for the severance of all political and economic relations with the nation. In a telephone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Raeisi emphasized the significant support provided to Israel by the US administration, condemning it as enabling Israel's actions.

Raeisi highlighted the dire situation in Gaza, where he asserted that the Palestinian people continue to suffer despite recent diplomatic efforts, including a United Nations Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire. He criticized Israel for allegedly flouting international norms and resolutions, accusing it of disregarding numerous international statements and treaties.

The Iranian president called upon Muslim leaders to take decisive measures to halt what he termed as Israel's "genocide" in Palestine. He stressed the importance of bolstering cooperation among member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and other international bodies to provide humanitarian aid to Gaza.

The escalation of conflict between Israel and Palestine, according to Raeisi, stems from Israel's purported intensified atrocities against Palestinians, prompting what he referred to as a retaliatory "historic operation" by the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas.
