US Police Disband Pro-Palestinian Encampment Once Again

Police in the United States have dismantled another encampment established in solidarity with Palestinians in the Gaza Strip amid ongoing conflict with Israel, supported by Washington. The incident unfolded at Northeastern University in Boston on Saturday, with riot gear-clad officers detaining approximately 100 individuals.

According to the university, the action was prompted by alleged instances of "virulent anti-Semitic slurs" from some protesters. This move comes as numerous US officials have sought to paint pro-Palestinian student demonstrations as manifestations of anti-Semitism.

Observers argue that the students are simply seeking accountability for Israeli actions in Gaza, where the death toll has surpassed 34,000, and urging Washington to withdraw its political, military, and intelligence backing for the conflict.

Following the police intervention, Northeastern University announced that the protest area was secured by midday, signaling a return to normal campus operations.

This crackdown is the latest in a series of clashes between law enforcement and students, resulting in numerous arrests and the use of chemical irritants and tasers. Similar orders to disband encampments were issued by college presidents, including at the University of Pennsylvania.

Despite these crackdowns, students at Yale and Columbia, the epicenters of the protests, have pledged to continue their pro-Palestinian activism as long as the US maintains its unwavering support for the conflict. In a statement, they affirmed their commitment to the cause, viewing their university activism as part of a broader movement for change.
