The United States and Britain have launched multiple airstrikes on strategic targets in Yemen's western province of Hudaydah. This escalation comes as Yemeni forces continue maritime operations against vessels linked to Israel in the Red Sea.
Yemen's official Saba news agency reported, citing an anonymous security source, that three airstrikes hit the Salif district in Hudaydah on Wednesday. Details on casualties remain unavailable at this time.
These airstrikes follow recent U.S. and British military actions, including six strikes on Hudaydah International Airport and four air raids on Kamaran Island.
Yemeni forces have expressed strong support for Palestine’s fight against Israeli occupation, which intensified after Israel's war on Gaza began on October 7. The conflict was triggered by a surprise retaliatory attack by Palestinian resistance movements, known as Operation Al-Aqsa Storm.
The Yemeni Armed Forces have vowed to continue their attacks until Israeli ground and aerial offensives in Gaza cease. Israel's actions have resulted in nearly 37,400 deaths and over 85,500 injuries in Gaza since October.
Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, leader of the Ansarullah resistance movement, has described the confrontation with the U.S. as "a great honor and blessing."
The ongoing conflict has disrupted major shipping routes, forcing some of the world's largest shipping and oil companies to reroute vessels around Africa instead of through the Suez Canal, significantly extending travel distances.
