President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey has issued a stark warning to Western nations, urging them to refrain from supporting Israel's potential military actions against Lebanon. Speaking on Wednesday, Erdogan accused Western powers of covertly encouraging Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plans, which he believes could ignite a catastrophic regional conflict.

Erdogan cautioned that Netanyahu’s intentions to extend the conflict to Lebanon would lead to "a great disaster," criticizing Western countries for "patting Israel on the back" and offering support. Netanyahu had recently indicated that Israeli military forces, after intensifying operations in the Gaza Strip, might redeploy to the northern border.

In response to the escalating tensions, Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement, led by Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, has showcased its military capabilities. Hezbollah recently conducted a drone strike on an Israeli military base, resulting in casualties. Nasrallah has emphasized that Israel would face severe consequences in any extended conflict, with no area in the occupied territories being spared from Hezbollah's rockets and drones.

Despite the rising tensions, the United States, a close ally of Israel, has been working diplomatically to deescalate the situation at the Lebanese border. Nevertheless, it has reaffirmed its unwavering support for Israel. Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin reassured Israel’s Minister of Military Affairs Yoav Gallant of President Joe Biden's commitment to providing over $14 billion in assistance to Israel, reinforcing the US's "ironclad" alliance with Tel Aviv.
