The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an umbrella group of anti-terror fighters, has expressed its readiness to engage in combat against Israel and the United States should the occupying regime initiate a new war on Lebanon.
A field commander from the group, speaking to AFP on Wednesday under the condition of anonymity, stated that there would be "escalation for escalation" in the event of a full-scale military aggression against Lebanon. The commander also mentioned that the Islamic Resistance in Iraq had already dispatched "experts and advisors" to Lebanon.
Iraqi political scientist Ali al-Baidar warned that a significant conflict between Israel and Lebanon's Hezbollah resistance movement "will not be limited to Lebanese territory." He added, "In Iraq and in the region, armed groups will enter into the confrontation."
Since early October, Hezbollah and Israel have been exchanging deadly fire, following Israel's genocidal war on the Gaza Strip after a surprise operation by the Palestinian Hamas resistance group. Hezbollah has vowed to continue its retaliatory attacks as long as the Tel Aviv regime persists in its Gaza onslaught, which has resulted in the deaths of at least 37,953 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injuries to 87,266 others.
Fears of a wider regional conflict have been growing as Hezbollah fighters and Israeli forces have intensified their attacks.
In solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq has been conducting numerous strikes against targets across the occupied Palestinian territories. On Tuesday, Iraqi resistance fighters, in collaboration with Yemeni armed forces, launched cruise missiles at "a vital target" in Haifa within the occupied lands.
