Iran's ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, has rebuked the United States for accusing the Islamic Republic of supplying arms to Yemen. In a letter to the UN Security Council on Thursday, Iravani described the allegations as a distraction from Washington's own acts of aggression against Yemen.
Earlier in the week, Stephanie Sullivan, the US deputy envoy to the United Nations, accused Tehran of providing prohibited ballistic missile technology to Yemen's Ansarullah movement, citing Iranian state-affiliated media as evidence.
Iravani criticized Sullivan for misusing the Security Council platform to make baseless accusations, asserting that these claims were part of a political agenda aimed at legitimizing US actions against Yemen.
The US and the UK have been conducting intermittent airstrikes in Yemen, targeting the country's western provinces in response to pro-Palestinian operations by Sana’a that threaten Israeli and other vessels in the region.
The Iranian ambassador also warned that the US’s repeated allegations were an attempt to pressure UN experts and undermine the credibility of their impartial reports.
