Jewish activists are urging the United States to cease its military support for Israel as the Israeli regime intensifies its military assault in the occupied West Bank, while ongoing violence in Gaza raises alarm. Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP), a U.S.-based advocacy group, expressed in a series of social media posts on Wednesday that Washington has long facilitated Israel’s "genocidal violence" against Palestinians, and called for an immediate stop to the flow of U.S. weapons to Israel.
JVP highlighted that the violence, from Gaza to the occupied West Bank, is enabled not only by the Israeli government but also by U.S. support. The organization condemned Washington's unwavering backing of Israel's military actions in Gaza and called for a world free from Zionism and colonialism, urging the U.S. government to end its arms shipments to the Israeli military.
"This massive and coordinated invasion is a direct result of our government’s continual enabling and co-signing of Israeli ... genocidal actions across all of occupied Palestine," JVP stated.
The organization also emphasized the escalation of violence across the occupied West Bank, where Jewish settlers, in collaboration with Israeli soldiers, are rapidly seizing more land for illegal settlements. JVP condemned these actions as part of the Zionist goal to achieve "maximum land with minimum Palestinians," aiming for the total ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from their homeland.
In the early hours of Wednesday, Israel launched its largest military operation in the West Bank in over 20 years, deploying hundreds of troops and conducting airstrikes on Jenin, Tulkarem, and Tubas, key centers of Palestinian resistance. At least 18 Palestinians have been killed, and many others injured in the assaults. Meanwhile, Israeli forces have also raided al-Khalil, arresting at least 12 people.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres expressed deep concern over Israel's military escalation and called for an immediate end to the violence in the West Bank. The region has seen a surge in violence by settlers and Israeli forces since Israel's military campaign in Gaza began in early October 2023. According to medical sources, 667 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank since the onset of the Gaza conflict.
