US Blamed for Fueling Israeli Aggression in West Asia, Says US-Based Human Rights Group

A US-based human rights organization, Democracy for the Arab World Now (DAWN), has criticized the Biden administration for enabling the Israeli regime to ignite war in West Asia. According to DAWN, President Joe Biden’s administration gave Israel a "blank check to light the region on fire," further escalating violence in the Middle East.

Following a year-long genocidal campaign against Palestinians, the Israeli military recently claimed that its troops entered southern Lebanon, allegedly preparing for a ground attack. However, Hezbollah, the Lebanese resistance movement, dismissed these claims as false, asserting that their fighters are ready for “direct confrontation” should Israeli troops enter.

DAWN condemned the Biden administration for its “reckless” support of Israel, describing the attack on Lebanon as an “entirely predictable consequence” of ceaseless U.S. military resupply and backing of Israel’s leadership. Sarah Leah Whitson, the group’s executive director, said that the U.S. has allowed Israel to spark further conflict in the region rather than pursuing diplomatic solutions that prioritize civilian lives.

Raed Jarrar, DAWN’s advocacy director, stressed the need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza as the key to halting the war in Lebanon. "Hezbollah and other armed groups have explicitly tied their actions to the ongoing Israeli assault on Gaza, making de-escalation impossible without first securing peace in Gaza," Jarrar stated.

Hezbollah has warned that they are prepared for a “direct confrontation” with Israel if further aggression occurs.
