According to a poll conducted by Pew, USA president George Bush had a 70% approval rating the week before his Mission Accomplished speech in Iraq war. It would never reach that again and the Iraq war divided America. The president’s approval rating continued to decline.
On this day, 1992, the civil war in Afghanistan began, as internal factions refused to form a coalition government and each sought to seize Kabul for themselves. Since that date, Afghanistan has never seen the color of peace and has been invaded many times by foreign powers.
