Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, addressing the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, asserted that the United States is actively working to obstruct the establishment of a Palestinian state. Lavrov emphasized that achieving full normalization in the Middle East hinges on resolving the core issue—the Israeli-Palestinian conflict—based on United Nations resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
Lavrov pointed out that the Palestinians have waited for more than 70 years to have their own state, but the United States has dominated the mediation process and is making concerted efforts to thwart its formation.
He further called upon responsible nations to join forces to create conducive conditions for the resumption of direct Israeli-Palestinian negotiations. Lavrov criticized the self-centeredness of a Western minority, highlighting their attempts to shift the focus of international discussions and sideline numerous unresolved regional crises, some of which have persisted for years, and even decades, according to the Russian news agency TASS.
