US Diplomat Visits Islamabad Amidst Chaotic Afghan Refugee Resettlement

In a four-day visit to Islamabad starting from December 4, US Assistant Secretary of State Julieta Valls Noyes is set to engage in discussions on the hurried resettlement of Afghan refugees in the United States. The hasty withdrawal causing chaos, leads to a refugee crisis, and potential persecution upon deportees' return to Afghanistan.

The US State Department highlighted the negotiations' focus on fostering closer collaboration between the US and Pakistan to ensure the swift and secure relocation of Afghan refugees. Despite these discussions, there are growing apprehensions about the US shirking responsibility for the aftermath of its abrupt withdrawal, leaving a trail of chaos and a refugee crisis.

The talks will involve high-level engagements with government officials, non-governmental organizations, and international partners in Islamabad, as the US attempts to manage the fallout from its rapid exit and the resulting challenges in the Afghan refugee resettlement process.
