Iranian UN Representative Warns Against Israeli Aggression in Region, Denies US and UK Allegations

Iran's permanent representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, voiced strong concerns about potential provocations by the Israeli regime, emphasizing their potential impact on regional peace and security. Speaking at a UN Security Council meeting addressing the situation in Syria, Iravani condemned an Israeli attack that resulted in the deaths of two Iranian military advisors.

"We strongly condemn the terrorist attack on military advisors in Syria on Dec. 2, where two Iranian advisors were martyred during their mission to support the Syrian army against terrorism," Iravani stated. He reaffirmed Syria's right under international law to respond to terrorist attacks and acts of aggression by the Israeli regime.

Iravani called on the Security Council to condemn the "destabilizing activities" of Israel, emphasizing the severe violation of Syrian sovereignty and territorial integrity that, according to Iran, threatens peace and stability in the region. He accused the Israeli regime of persisting in acts of aggression within Syrian borders, intentionally targeting civilians and critical infrastructure.

Categorically rejecting allegations made by the United States and echoed by the UK, Iravani stated, "Contrary to the unfounded claim, Iran has consistently demonstrated its commitment to promoting peace and security in the region." He held the United States fully responsible for a decade-long aggression and criticized its obstruction of the Security Council's efforts to establish a ceasefire, particularly in the context of the Israeli conflict in Gaza.

Iravani highlighted the challenging humanitarian situation in Syria, exacerbated by US-imposed sanctions, and expressed serious concerns about the security situation in areas controlled by illegal foreign forces. He attributed the primary source of insecurity to the continued occupation of US military forces, creating an environment conducive to the growth of terrorist activities within Syria and the broader region.
