India Urges Taliban to Prevent Terrorist Activities from Afghan Soil

During the 6th Regional Dialogue of Secretaries of Security Councils/National Security Advisers on Afghanistan in Bishkek, India's Deputy National Security Adviser underscored the importance of preventing terrorist activities emanating from Afghanistan, particularly by groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad.

Emphasizing a collective approach aligned with UNSCR 2593, India reiterated the stance that Afghan territory should not be used for sheltering, training, planning, or financing terrorist acts, including those perpetrated by UN-proscribed individuals.

Both Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad, deemed terrorist organizations by India, have been linked to significant attacks, including the 2001 assault on the Indian Parliament and the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

With a commitment to being a significant player in Afghanistan, India advocates for a consensus approach to resolve the country's issues. It reaffirms its dedication to collaborating with the international community for the development and well-being of the Afghan people, considering development a fundamental human right.

The meeting, attended by security officials from regional powers including Iran, Russia, China, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan, signifies collective efforts towards stabilizing Afghanistan and combating terrorism.
