American Disapproval of Israel's Gaza War Surges

A recent poll conducted by US-based pollster Gallup indicates a significant shift in American sentiment towards Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip. According to the survey, support for Israel's conduct in Gaza has plummeted from 50 percent in November to a mere 36 percent in March.

The poll reveals that a majority of Americans, constituting 55 percent, now oppose the ongoing conflict in Gaza. This decline in support spans across all major political parties in the US, with Democrats showing an 18 percent decrease in approval and Republicans following suit with a 7 percent drop since November.

The erosion of backing for Israel's military operations comes amid heightened scrutiny and protests against the US government's stance on the matter. On March 25, the US made a notable departure from its previous stance by abstaining from a UN Security Council vote on a resolution urging an immediate ceasefire in Gaza during Ramadan. This marked a significant departure from the Biden administration's previous pattern of vetoing similar resolutions, prompting criticism from within Democratic circles for what some perceive as insufficient action to promote peace.

The shift in American public opinion underscores a growing dissatisfaction with Israel's actions in Gaza and suggests a changing dynamic in US-Israel relations.
