Israeli Official Admits Failure in Achieving Strategic Goals in Gaza War

A senior Israeli official has acknowledged that the regime has failed to achieve its “strategic goals” through its prolonged military campaign against the Gaza Strip. Tzachi Hanegbi, the chief of Israel's national security council, made these remarks on Wednesday, as reported by Lebanon’s al-Mayadeen television network, citing Israeli media sources.

Hanegbi stated, "We did not achieve any of the strategic goals of the war," including securing terms for a prisoner exchange deal and overthrowing the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas. He added, "They say in the [Israeli forces] that this will take a lot of time, not one year, but years."

The official also noted that the continuous bombings and the blockade of humanitarian aid to Gaza have alienated the global community against Israel.

The war on Gaza was initiated by Israel last October in response to al-Aqsa Storm, a retaliatory operation by Gaza’s resistance movements, which resulted in hundreds of captives being taken. The military campaign has led to the deaths of at least 35,709 people, predominantly women and children.

This is not the first time an Israeli official has admitted the failure to meet the war's objectives, which also included attempts to forcefully displace Gaza’s population to Egypt. Last Saturday, Ram Ben-Barak, a member of the Israeli parliament and former deputy director of Mossad, described the war as “futile” and emphasized that Tel Aviv was on the losing end.
