Iran's Interim Foreign Minister, Ali Bagheri Kani, has called on Muslim countries to leverage their capabilities to halt the Israeli regime's assault on Palestinians in Gaza and expedite the delivery of humanitarian aid to the besieged region.

Bagheri Kani issued the appeal during a recent phone conversation with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry. He emphasized the need to address the dire consequences of Israel's ongoing atrocities in Gaza and the city of Rafah.

The Israeli military initiated its offensive on Gaza on October 7, following Hamas' Operation al-Aqsa Storm in response to escalating Israeli aggression against Palestinians. Since then, Israel has been accused of committing war crimes, resulting in the deaths of over 36,000 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, and injuring over 83,000 others.

The blockade imposed by Israel has further exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, depriving its two million residents of basic necessities like fuel, electricity, food, and water.

Bagheri Kani also underscored the significance of fostering dialogue between Tehran and Cairo to restore relations based on mutual respect and shared interests.

In response, Shoukry acknowledged the constructive nature of talks between the two countries aimed at reestablishing ties. He highlighted Egypt's efforts to mediate the conflict and facilitate aid delivery to Gaza.

Both diplomats agreed to continue consultations to strengthen relations and address Israel's ongoing aggression against Palestinians in Gaza.
