Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy has unveiled new footage showcasing surveillance of US and allied naval vessels in the Persian Gulf. The footage highlights a San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock (LPD) and a Wasp-class amphibious assault ship, both from the US Navy, as well as the Spanish helicopter carrier Juan Carlos I.
This video release coincides with a recent ceremony where the IRGC Navy introduced 2,640 missile systems, drones, and additional equipment into its combat organization, further strengthening its military capabilities.
The surveillance comes amid heightened tensions following the Israeli assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, an act that prompted Iran to vow retaliation against Israel.
Iran has previously captured detailed footage of American military assets in the region. In April 2021, the IRGC released close-up drone footage of an American aircraft carrier, showing detailed views of military equipment on the carrier's deck. This marked a significant moment, as General Kenneth McKenzie, then-head of the United States Central Command, testified that the US was operating without complete air superiority for the first time since the Korean War due to Iran's extensive use of drones.
In 2019, Iranian media also released high-quality footage of an Ababil-III surveillance drone flying over the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf.
