Lavrov: US Complicity in Israel's Provocations Aims to Escalate Conflict in the Middle East

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has accused Israel of deliberately provoking a full-scale war between the United States and Iran by assassinating Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah. Speaking at a news conference after the UN General Assembly, Lavrov emphasized that the killing was not just a political act but a calculated move to drag the US directly into the conflict.

Lavrov suggested that Israel's assassination of Nasrallah was aimed at inflaming tensions with Iran, and ultimately drawing the US into a broader regional war. He also commended Iran’s leadership for its restrained and responsible behavior, preventing further escalation.

In a speech at the UN General Assembly, Lavrov condemned Israel’s "inhumane attack" on Lebanon and called for an international investigation into what he described as terrorist methods used by Israel to achieve political objectives.

Furthermore, Lavrov suggested that the US was likely aware of Israel’s recent pager attacks in Lebanon, which resulted in the deaths of dozens and injured thousands, including civilians. These attacks, allegedly carried out by Israeli intelligence, targeted Hezbollah communication devices. Lavrov pointed to leaks in Western media as evidence that Washington may have had prior knowledge or involvement in the operation.

The accusations underline the destructive role the US plays in the region, according to Lavrov, as its complicity and support for Israeli military actions continue to fuel instability and provoke greater conflict in the Middle East.
