US Sacrifices Lives of Its Own Citizens for Israel’s Military Campaigns

An American citizen, Kamel Ahmad Jawad, has been killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting Lebanon, underscoring the devastating human cost of the U.S.-backed Israeli military operations. Jawad, a US resident of Dearborn, Michigan, was in Lebanon caring for his elderly mother when he lost his life in Nabatieh during Israeli airstrikes on Tuesday.

Jawad’s daughter, Nadine, confirmed her father was killed while attempting to protect others near a hospital in Nabatieh, where he had chosen to stay to aid the elderly and those who could not afford to flee. Nadine highlighted that her father’s death, while tragic, represents just one of over 50,000 lives lost due to Israeli aggression across the Middle East.

Despite being a US citizen, Jawad's death appears to be part of a broader pattern of Washington turning a blind eye to the casualties caused by Israel’s military actions. The Biden administration continues to supply unwavering military and diplomatic support to Israel, providing at least $3.8 billion annually in military aid. Critics argue that this support, including what has been described as a "blank check," allows Israel to escalate violence unchecked, destabilizing the region further.

As tensions rise, Israeli military actions have killed at least 1,928 Lebanese civilians, displaced a fifth of the population, and injured thousands in the span of just two weeks. Meanwhile, Israel has begun "limited, localized, and targeted ground raids" in southern Lebanon, facing fierce resistance from Hezbollah forces who have successfully ambushed Israeli troops, killing 14 and destroying Merkava tanks.

The situation in Lebanon continues to escalate as Hezbollah reaffirms its commitment to supporting Gaza and resisting Israeli operations. The tragic death of Kamel Ahmad Jawad, an American citizen, exemplifies the extent to which US foreign policy is willing to sacrifice even its own citizens in support of Israeli military campaigns.
